Julia Roberts will begin filming the International Bestseller “Eat Pray Love” by Elizabeth Gilbert in July.  The film is based on Gilbert’s journey of self discovery that took her through Italy, India and Indonesia…where she ate, prayed and found love in that order.

The film is being produced by Brad Pitt and Dede Gardner’s Plan B Production Company for Columbia Pictures, and directed by Ryan Murphy

Still, read the book.  As always, the books are much better than the films they spawn.

Givenchy’s makeup artistic director, Nicolas Degennes, has unveiled the 2009 spring/summer makeup collection for eyes, lips, nails and face inspired by historical, traditional India and its bursting color palettes.

“A homage to Indian beauty, heightened with a discreet air of eroticism and anchored in the purest tradition. What I adore in these love sagas is the eternal femininity in a showcase of flashy, ultra-kitsch glamour and gaudy music,” stated Degennes. “I wanted to create a collection with blazing, extravagant colors. In India, it’s so natural to be daring. No matter what medium you choose for venturing into this exoticism, what you find is Mother India and her deep roots.”

Products in the collection include Sari Glow luminous cheek powder in orange and pink shades inspired by Jaipur Palace. There’s also Precious Sari glitter eyeshadow in shades Maharani Silver and Maharani Gold, and Prismissime Visage face and eye power in pinks and apricots. The packaging is adorned with bindis to evoke the decorative style of India.

“My new collection offers this brightness, this glow, this vibrancy, but is also anchored in fundamental values,” stated Degennes. “In this Indian adventure I rediscovered why I am so attached to Morocco, especially Marrakech. Living in the past as modernity tries to impose itself.”

Charity: water, a non-profit organization that funds freshwater wells and sanitation projects in some of the poorest communities in India, Africa, Central America, has once again teamed up with retailer Saks Fifth Avenue.

Last year, Saks raised more than $500,000 for the charity, which aided in the construction of more than 100 wells that serve 37,000 people in India, Central America and Africa. According to the charity: water web site, in India alone it supported 38 village water systems in 2008, and is working to fund at least 50 more in 2009.

To raise funds for 2009, Saks will sell charity: water t-shirts, bracelets and well sponsorships nationwide through June 30.

The charity was founded In August 2004 by Scott Harrison, who left career in special event planning and promotions in New York City to serve for a year as a volunteer photojournalist onboard Mercy Ship Anastasis, a hospital ship, to impoverished Liberia, West Africa. On returning to Manhattan in September 2005, Harrison tested the idea behind charity: water by producing an exhibition of his photographs and videos called Mercy. Despite opening in the midst of the Hurricane Katrina disaster, visitors contributed more than $96,000 to help provide medical procedures and freshwater wells in West Africa. In October 2005, Harrison returned to West Africa for another six-month journey, before returning to Manhattan in the spring of 2006 to found charity: water.
