Or so says Prof. Mural Doraiswamy of Duke University of North Carolina. The good guy in the curry is turmeric, or curcumin which appears to prevent spread of amyloid protein plaques that may cause dementia in the brain.

So far the research has been done on animals and not tested on humans yet. UK experts are not buying it though.

In India turmeric, or huldi as it is called, has been used in home remedies for a variety of ailments – from antiseptics on cuts and burns and mixed in warm milk to cure colds. It is also used in a face pack to create a ‘glow’.

Don’t ever get a turmeric stain on a white clothes though. Ain’t no detergent out there that gets that stain out!
