NRI = Not Required Indian?

In India on September 17, 2009 at 7:51 am

NRI stands for non resident Indian. You know this means paying 10 times the price charged to a local Indian to visit the Taj Mahal – a difference one doesn’t mind seeing as the money goes to maintain this magnificent building. Or being charged extra for goods in stores if your accent gives you away.

But discriminated against for housing? Or paying double in capital gains tax?
