Yeh Hai Life!

Happy 40th, Sesame Street!

In Education, Entertainment, India on November 4, 2009 at 3:24 pm

We grew up on Sesame Street, and still very much enjoy all the characters, love, and education Sesame Street puts out there for this new generation of Wii-kids.

These characters have become known world-wide, and even started its own channel in India, called Galli Galli Sim Sim.

Yet, Sesame Street – Australia was the first one to add an Indian character to its show only just this year!  “[Nitya] Vidyasagar plays the character of Leela, an Indian woman who runs a new laundromat next to Hooper’s store. Leela’s culture and heritage comes alive on Sesame Street, helped by a whole lot of singing and dancing, of course.” (VillageVoice-Balmain)
