Don’t Bent Over Backwards…Or Why Don’t Ya?

We’re only as young as our spine.  Get your spine in shape by practicing Backbending (aka Wheel or Urdva Dhanurasana) with YHL’s ZenGirl Jennifer.

Watch here and then follow along at your own pace.  Don’t be discouraged if you don’t get up the first time.  Keep practicing and in the meantime, just do the bridge until you’re ready to go up.  Once up, stay in pose 3 to 5 deep breaths.  Try for 3 wheels in one practice.

The benefits of this pose include: increased energy and counteracts depression, stimulates thyroid and pituitary, strengthens the arms, wrists, legs, buttocks, abdomen & spine.  It also stretches the chest, lungs and upper middle back and is therapeutic for asthma, back pain, infertility and osteoporosis.  Enjoy!
