In May 2009 came this shocking statistic – Around 1.2 million children are believed to be involved in prostitution in India, the country’s federal police said Monday (full post at CNN). A harrowing film by the Guardian is here.

India’s Supreme Court is hearing a petition by NGOs to intervene in the trafficking. Besides being shocked and “will keep issuing directives to the government” what else is the Supreme Court going to achieve? Nothing.

Though but a drop in the bucket, the work of the Bachpan Bachao Andolan (Save The Childhood Movement) continues and begs our constant awareness of what they do, and more importantly our consistent support.
