Yeh Hai Life!

Let’s Make This “The Year Of The Tiger”!

In Animals, India on February 10, 2010 at 12:21 pm

We’ve been reporting on this before, but now the World Wildlife Fund is pushing their campaign to save the tiger from extinction even more, by using the Chinese New Year.  On Feb 14, 2010, the Year of the Tiger starts, and the WWF is doubling-down on making sure that the tiger is saved!  As a WWF member ourselves, we fully support this effort!

On February 14, 2010, the Chinese lunar calendar rolls into the Year of the Tiger. Unfortunately, the plight of wild tigers doesn’t call for much celebration. Three subspecies have been driven to extinction in the past century alone and experts estimate there are as few as 3,200 tigers left in the wild. The good news is that together we can secure a future for these magnificent big cats. Join WWF to reach Tx2, our goal to double the number of wild tigers by 2022, the next Year of the Tiger. The World Wildlife Fund says there are now more tigers in captivity in the United States alone than there are in the wild worldwide.
