Island Claimed By India Sunk By Rising Sea Level.

A reminder that the best laid plans, visions and dreams of human beings are completely irrelevant to mother nature.

NEW DELHI — For nearly 30 years, India and Bangladesh have argued over control of a tiny rock island in the Bay of Bengal. Now rising sea levels have resolved the dispute for them: the island’s gone. (Full post at Washington Post)

These lines from the poem ‘War is kind, and other lines’ by Stephen Crane are the perfect obituary for the disputed island:

A man said to the universe:
“Sir I exist!”
“However,” replied the universe,
“The fact has not created in me
A sense of obligation.”
