Jeffrey Archer’s Brilliant Marketing Move – Write A Bollywoodish Short Story.

In Books, India on May 19, 2010 at 8:52 am

This is what Archer writes on his blog about his latest short story collection:

With permission of Eyjafjallajokull, I will be travelling to Mumbai on May 1st, in order to open the new flagship Landmark bookstore on Tuesday May 4th. Macmillan will be publishing And Thereby Hangs a Tale in India from Monday 3rd. In this collection of short stories there is one set in Delhi – the story of Nisha and Jamwal – which I think is going to cause considerable interest on the sub-continent, not least because the true story is an obvious candidate for a Bollywood film. (Archer Blog)

The ploy is working – The Hindu is first to run a piece featuring Nisha Jamwal, the designer whose life the short story is based on. Now you know about it from YHL (if you didn’t read the Hindu article first:)

The book is on our summer reading list…but only because we’re Jeffrey Archer fans and ‘Kane And Abel’ was among the first novels we read as teens.

A sidenote factoid: ‘And Thereby Hangs A Tale’ is a phrase from Shakespeare’s As You Like It
