‘Dear Friend Hitler’ – Bollywood’s First Film On Hitler Starring Anupam Kher.

In Film, India on June 8, 2010 at 8:15 am

Oh dear! Anupam Kher as Hitler and Neha Dhupia as Eva Braun. The director Rakesh Ranjan Kumar seems to be making a leap from sound designer to director.  He’s getting a LOT of press for just announcing the film.

Kudos to Rakesh Kumar for being the first Indian to take on Hitler as his directorial debut film subject. Here’s a word of advice – you better read up and get the history damned right. Otherwise you’ll end up making an international fool of not just yourself but India’s film industry as well.

Here’s a good place to start your reading.

Rakesh maintains that the film also shows how Hitler contributed to India’s independence and what happened to soldiers in Subhas Chandra Bose’s Azad Hind Legion in Germany. “It shows Hitler’s love for India and how he indirectly contributed to Indian independence. It also depicts the struggle for survival of the lesser known Indian Legion soldiers who were left in Germany by Subhas Bose to fight for India’s independence and Germany’s prestige,” said Rakesh. 1. The director and producer are publicity whores looking to make a quick buck off a controversial topic. I’ve lost all respect for Anupam Kher and Neha Dhupia for taking part in what is sure to be Bollywood’s Caligula.

  2. One of the BEST comments we’ve ever received on a post. Thank you:)

  3. Sieg Heil!

  4. At YHL we hold true to the principle of free speech and no censorship. So we must allow Norben’s comment….as profoundly misguided and offensive as it is.

I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it. ~Voltaire
